The purpose of this research is to analyze the model of economic empowerment based on Pondok Pesantren (Ponpes) by zakat institutions case study on the Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) BRI. This research approach is qualitative with a case study method. Economic empowerment directed to boarding schools by YBM BRI is a pilot project whose implementation is still running for approximately the last five years. YBM BRI already has procedures and models in selecting boarding schools that can be selected to receive boarding school-based economic empowerment programs. The boarding school-based economic empowerment carried out by YBM SRI Malang Regional Office and YBM SRI Surabaya Regional Office in the form of direct transfer assistance is for scholarships for students and teachers / bakri who cannot afford teaching and learning activities at the boarding school. Economic empowerment carried out by YBM SRI Malang Regional Office in the form of productive economic assistance is assistance for goat farming for Islamic boarding schools that have the potential of a livestock environment and have students with these skills.
